An automation will check for certain values in fields on the invoice and then start other actions if those values exist.
Note: Automations are per client only
Create automation
In this example, we'll create an automation for autoposting approved invoices:
- Navigate to Settings --> Automations and click "Create Folder"
- In the folder, select at least one trigger event. Here we will select "After invoice approval". This means that the automation will only run after the invoice has been approved.
Click "Save".
- In the folder menu, click "Create automation"
- Fill in rule name, Click "Save".
Set up automation conditions
- Click Add condition
- Filter the list of fields by typing "vat code". Then select VAT Code under Accounting - VAT. Finally, select the condition named All lines have any value
This condition will be met when all invoice lines have a VAT code set.
It is possible to combine multiple conditions if desired.

Set up automation actions
- Select Autopost from the menu
- Click Add and then check the checkbox for Set invoice to autoposting
- It's possible to run multiple actions at once if desired.
Select Create Comment on Invoice from the menu and then click Add
Enter the comment "Automation did run"
- Click Save. The automation is now complete.
Tip: If you need to experiment with conditions or actions, simply remove the Autopost action from the rule. You can then change the automation and simply click "Reanalyze invoice" to see the effects.

Test automation
Use a test invoice to check that the automation works.
- Make sure the invoice is in the same client as the automation was created. (If not, you'll need to move the invoice to the correct client.)
- Set the VAT Code on all lines
- Click Approve
- The invoice should now end up in status "Posting" and receive the comment
"Automation did run"
This will enable automatic posting of invoices once they are approved and correct.
