What is Service Period?
Service Period is an invoice line parameter where you can set a calendar month, by a number from 1 to 12.
What is it used for?
The purpose of Service Period is to mark the actual month (period) of the goods or service being delivered.
Example: Your company receives goods in July, but the related invoice does not arrive until September. Since the books for July are already closed, the invoice must be recorded in a later month. As a result, the accounting records will not accurately reflect the actual delivery date of the goods. In this case, the Service Period field can be used to indicate the correct delivery month—“7” (July) in this example.
Features
Auto suggest period will look for dates*, or date marks in the invoice lines, and make a suggestion in the Service Period cell. If there is a month found on the invoice line, SEMINE will suggest that month in the service period cell.
If there is a date interval found on the invoice lines, SEMINE will suggest the last month in this interval in the service period cell.
If you want SEMINE to auto suggest Service Period, make sure you have checked the box in Settings for “Use Service Period Extractions” :
*Specific dates found on invoice line description is not supported as of September 2025, will come soon.
Automation Rules
There are rule conditions and rule actions related to Service Period.
Condition “Invoice Lines Service Period” allows you to set a trigger for instance for if an invoice line is missing Service Period or has set Service Period.
In rule action “Set date fields” you can set Service Period as you want. You can for instance choose to use the invoice date as a basis for setting Service Period. In the example below, Invoice Date is used as basis, but 1 month is also added. Meaning that if invoice date is 01.10.2025, then Service Period would be “11”.
